> For people paying for ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro at once: how the plans compare on price, how to test which one you actually need, and when keeping both makes sense.

**Typical savings:** ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro are both $20/month. If you pay for both and one covers your work, cancelling the other saves $20/month. Claude Pro is $17/month billed annually, so if Claude is the one you keep, switching it to annual saves another $3/month. On team plans, ChatGPT Business and Claude Team (Standard seat) are both $20 per seat/month billed annually ($25 monthly), so dropping one saves $20 per seat/month.

## How the paid plans line up

| | ChatGPT | Claude |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | Plus, $20/month | Pro, $20/month ($17/month billed annually) |
| Team (standard seat, billed annually) | Business, $20/seat ($25 monthly, minimum 2 users) | Team Standard, $20/seat ($25 monthly, 2–150 seats) |
| Premium team seat | Business Premium, $100/seat | Team Premium, $100/seat |

Both also have free tiers, and ChatGPT has a Go plan at $8/month. See the side-by-side [ChatGPT vs Claude comparison](/compare/chatgpt-vs-claude) for capability-by-capability fit. Our [ChatGPT](/tools/chatgpt) and [Claude](/tools/claude) pages list every plan with its source and verification date.

## Test before you cancel

The [AI assistant consolidation workflow](/workflows/consolidate-ai-assistants) walks through it. List the tasks you actually use an assistant for, run the same prompts in both for a week, score the answers, and keep the winner. It costs nothing extra. Also check whether your Google Workspace or Microsoft 365 plan already includes an assistant.

## When keeping both makes sense

Keep both if you depend on a coding tool tied to one subscription (Claude Code comes with Claude's paid plans; Codex comes with ChatGPT's) and use the other for a distinct job. Keep both, too, if each one clearly wins a task you do every day. For light use, keep one paid plan and the other's free tier.

## Check your own numbers

The [audit](/audit) is a free stack and savings calculator, and you don't need to sign up. List what you pay for and it shows keep, downgrade or drop line by line, with the arithmetic. OneLessTool has no affiliate links, so no recommendation earns us anything. If you want ongoing checks, the site has a waitlist for an upcoming Verified Savings Plan: "We'll watch your stack's prices and tell you what to drop. Joining the waitlist is free."
