# Coda (Superhuman Docs)

> Docs with built-in tables, forms and automations, now sold as Superhuman Docs and billed only for Doc Makers.

Coda combines documents with connected tables, views, forms, formulas and automations, so a doc can run a tracker, roadmap or lightweight app. Since July 2026 it is sold as Superhuman Docs, part of the Superhuman suite with Grammarly, Go and Mail. Billing counts only Doc Makers (people who create docs and pages); editors and viewers are free. Free covers collaborative docs with limited shared-doc size; Pro removes the doc-size cap and adds 30-day version history and custom domains; Business adds unlimited automations, unlimited version history, private folders and doc locking; Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM and governance.

## Capabilities

| Capability | Fit | Plans | Limitations |
|---|---|---|---|
| Write documents and notes (`docs-notes`) | native | all | Free limits the size of shared docs; Building doc-apps takes more setup than a plain editor |
| Manage projects and tasks (`project-management`) | partial | all | No dedicated Gantt, workload or sprint features listed on the pricing page; Automations quota is low on Free and medium on Pro |
| Store structured data in a shared database or spreadsheet (`database-spreadsheet`) | partial | all | Cross-doc tables are limited on Free |

## Why people pay for it

- Unlimited doc size for shared docs
- Unlimited automations and version history (Business)
- Only Doc Makers are billed; editors and viewers are free

## Reasons to keep paying

- Docs built as small apps with tables, formulas, buttons and automations
- Packs and connectors syncing data from Jira, GitHub, Figma and other tools
- Maker billing keeps large read/edit audiences free

## Risks

- **migration_complexity** (medium): Docs that act as apps (formulas, buttons, automations, Packs) need rebuilding in the destination tool.
- **functionality_loss** (medium): Coda was rebranded as Superhuman Docs in July 2026 and its plans are now Superhuman suite plans; check what your existing Coda plan will move to before renewing.

Data portability: moderate — Editorial: page text exports cleanly, but formulas, buttons, automations and Packs do not carry over to other doc tools and have to be rebuilt.
