ClickUp vs Trello: what each plan costs per user, and which one to keep

ClickUp Core and Business set against Trello Standard and Premium on verified US month-to-month prices, with what each tier unlocks and how much a 10-person team saves by keeping one.

Typical savings: a 10-person team paying for ClickUp Core ($12 per user/month) and Trello Standard ($6 per user/month) spends $180 a month on two project tools. Keeping only ClickUp Core saves $60/month ($720 a year). Keeping only Trello Standard saves $120/month ($1,440 a year). At the upper tier, ClickUp Business ($25 per user/month) and Trello Premium ($12.50 per user/month) together cost $375 a month for 10 people. Keeping only ClickUp Business saves $125/month ($1,500 a year), and keeping only Trello Premium saves $250/month ($3,000 a year).

Before you cancel either one, move one real board or project into the tool you're keeping (the pilot steps are under Test before you cancel). If your Trello boards are simple enough to live in a shared Google Sheet, the free workflow readiness check tests that move. It checks your Google Workspace setup, needs no account, and you can download the checklist.

Teams usually end up paying for both when one group moved to ClickUp for docs, dashboards and automations while another kept its Trello boards. Both tools organise tasks on boards and lists, assign owners and due dates, and charge per user, so the overlap is large. The useful question is which tool your team's live projects, automations and integrations already depend on.

The plans side by side

ClickUp plan Price per user Trello plan Price per user
Free Forever $0 (unlimited free members, 60 MB storage) Free $0 (up to 10 collaborators per Workspace)
Core $12/month Standard $6/month
Business $25/month Premium $12.50/month
Enterprise Contact sales Enterprise Billed annually only

All prices are US month-to-month. They come from our ClickUp page (clickup.com/pricing, checked on 2026-10-28) and our Trello page (trello.com/pricing, US, checked on 2026-10-15), and the vendors' pricing pages showed the same amounts when we read them again (Trello on 2026-11-02, ClickUp on 2026-11-03). The rows pair plans by where they sit in each lineup: ClickUp Core and Trello Standard are the first paid tiers, and ClickUp Business and Trello Premium are the next step up.

Both vendors also show lower prices for yearly billing. We compare month-to-month only. ClickUp doesn't publish an Enterprise price. Trello sells Enterprise on yearly billing only, and its per-user cost varies with the number of users, so it isn't a fair row for a 10-person team. ClickUp Max ($120 per user/month) adds the largest AI allowance on top of Enterprise controls, so Trello has no equivalent row. ClickUp applies an upgrade to every member of the Workspace.

What each tier unlocks

ClickUp Trello
Free Unlimited free members and tasks, 60 MB storage, a ClickUp Brain trial of 500 credits per Workspace Up to 10 collaborators per Workspace, up to 10 boards per Workspace, unlimited cards
Entry paid Core: unlimited storage, custom fields, unlimited forms and Gantt charts, 1K automations a month Standard: unlimited boards, advanced checklists, custom fields, card mirroring
Upper tier Business: advanced dashboards, webhooks and automation integrations, resource management and timesheets, 10K automations a month Premium: calendar, timeline, table, dashboard and map views, AI features, admin and security features

Features are from the same catalog pages and the vendors' pricing pages as read on 2026-11-02 and 2026-11-03. On AI, both lower paid tiers are lighter: clickup.com/pricing labels Core "ClickUp Brain² Trial", and Business is the first ClickUp plan listed with Brain² and Premium Models. Trello lists AI features on Standard and Premium.

Keep ClickUp when

  • Your team runs docs, dashboards, forms and tasks in one place, and the dashboards on Business are part of how work gets reported.
  • You rely on automations at volume (1K a month on Core, 10K on Business) or on webhooks into other tools.
  • You need timesheets or resource management, which ClickUp lists on Business.

Keep Trello when

  • The work fits boards, lists and cards, and the team mostly needs simple views of who is doing what.
  • Price matters most: Trello Standard is $6 per user/month less than ClickUp Core, and Premium is $12.50 per user/month less than ClickUp Business.
  • Your team is 10 people or fewer and fits Trello Free (up to 10 collaborators and 10 boards per Workspace). Then keeping Trello can cost nothing at all.

Before you cancel either one

  • ClickUp: custom fields, statuses, automations and dashboards have to be rebuilt in the other tool. Dropping to Free Forever caps storage at 60 MB.
  • Trello: boards, Power-Ups and Butler automations set up around your team's flow have to be rebuilt elsewhere. Dropping to Free caps the Workspace at 10 collaborators and 10 boards.
  • Count the people who hold a seat in both tools. That number, not the whole team, is what you're paying for twice.

If your projects are simple and you're weighing a lighter tool, compare Asana, Trello or Sheets for simple project tracking. When you're ready to cancel, use the cancellation checklist.

Test before you cancel

Run this pilot on one real board or project before you cancel anything:

  1. Pick the tool you're keeping and list who holds a seat in the other one.
  2. Export one live board or project and import it into the tool you're keeping. Check that lists or statuses, assignees, due dates, checklists and comments came across.
  3. Rebuild the automations that project depends on, and check they fit your plan's monthly limit.
  4. Reconnect the integrations the project uses, such as Slack or Google Drive, and confirm new tasks and updates arrive.
  5. Run the project in the kept tool for two weeks. Cancel the other seats only after nobody needed to go back.

If your Trello boards are simple enough for a shared Google Sheet, the free workflow readiness check on our project tracking consolidation workflow tests that move. It checks your Google Workspace setup, needs no account, keeps your progress in your browser, and lets you download the checklist as Markdown.
